๖ۣۜLσкнє – AηgєƖ- ƲєяƖαcк (jackson.verlack) and team opened the long-awaited next evolution in the Pandora Box of Dreams, Pandora Resort, to Secondlife residents today. I missed the party this afternoon, due to real life obligations, but paid a visit this evening and was, as expected, thrilled with the results of many months of planning. Located on Hurricane sim, it is a feast for the eyes and a destination not to be missed by explorers, photographers, and romantics alike.
You arrive in the train station, and as you pass through the doors into the main square I recommend you first go straight through, past the park, to a gated area where there is a path that leads up the mountain to the Inn at Pandora Resort. You can always come back, but first let’s check in to our room and get a bite to eat. It’s been a long journey.
First, a few words of advice: Don’t go there hungry. The opportunities to be tempted by a sumptuous meal or a sweet snack abound! Such beautiful gastronomical delights await you, and can be found in several locations on the resort. The restaurant inside the Inn (above) would be lovely for a breakfast meeting for business or pleasure. Upstairs, there is a cinema and you must pass through a kitchen filled with sweet delights to reach it. In town, there is a cafe with indoor and outdoor seating, and delightful foods await you there as well. The best place to eat, however, is in Pandora Gardens, but I’ll come back around to that shortly … it deserves special attention.
Outside the Inn is the landing point for the Pandora Resort Sky Rail. Be quick, though, it only stops momentarily! Click on the car to sit, and it takes you on a scenic tour, rising 100m above sea level through the snowy mountains, giving you a beautiful scenic view of the valley below. One might imagine riding to the top and skiing back down, but alas I did not find such hills for sport. Still, it’s a nice way to see from above, because flying is prohibited.
Taking the path around the back of the Inn will lead you through a bucolic woodland where you’ll find a few romantic spots to rest, some scenic overlooks, and some cabins that you can rent by the week. This one (above) in particular faces a fork in the river, where the sunsets are spectacular and quiet seclusion is the order of life. For the business-minded, there are shops in town for rent as well. Pandora Resort, once known as Iron Falls, traces its roots back to mining of gold and minerals, and then to lumber mills until harsh economic times caused the population to leave this place in search of work. It then became a tourist resort, and today we enjoy the beauty of this iron mountain range for all that nature has to offer.
As you can imagine, much like the Poconos or the Adirondacks, Pandora Resort is a destination for weddings as well. The church in the center of town is available, lovers, for your special day, and Pandora Garden is appointed splendidly for your outdoor reception. I felt instantly the desire to get married in a small ceremony with 30 of my favorite people in attendance upon seeing the church and garden, and I think you will too whether you are seeing someone or not! Perhaps I should be ordained online and set up shop in town, just in case …
Remember I mentioned all the food? Well, let me tell you … the best food can be found right here, catered for your event. As you pass through the rose archway into the garden, you’ll find a large area to hold a reception, with tables well appointed to wine and dine your guests, beautifully lit with unique dragonfly-wing shaped lanterns, and a canopied table for the bride and groom. The menu is superb, and the ambience … tres magnifique! Can you see how large (and hungry!) my eyes are at the sight of my dessert? Ooohhh my tummy had much to say at the sight of this feast!
Be sure to pick up pick up a notecard at the train station to learn about the history of Iron Falls, now Pandora Resort, check out the opportunities to rent ad-space in the station or store space in town, and pick up a notecard for rates to hold your own wedding or event on a special, closed-sim basis when you arrive, and if you need a guest to fill out your reception, I’m always available …
Catch the train to Pandora Resort.
